Black South Sea Pearls

Dark, colorful and beautiful Black South Sea pearls from Tahitian islands of French Polynesia.

Perhaps it's fitting that Tahiti lies in the deepest and most remote part of the Pacific Ocean, as it is home to one of the most alluring of all pearl colors: Naturally Black South Sea pearls. 

This dark yet luminous variety South Sea oyster is so predominant across the shallow island atolls that the vast chain of islands that make up French Polynesia, that the pearls produced from here are often referred to as "Tahitian" pearls.

The dark shades of a Black South Sea pearl seem to reflect the vibrant color ranges of its environment, the verdant green of the island palms trees, the bronze of its reddish sunsets, and the black of its darkest nights.

On these remote islands, pearl farmers have mastered the art of producing these organic gems, requiring over two years to grow before a single pearl can be harvested, often in enchanting variety of shapes, colors and sizes.
