Akoya Pearls

Despite their size, Akoya pearls are legendary for their outsized luster and storied history.

Named after the oyster that produces it, Akoya pearls were first cultivated in Japan nearly a hundred years ago and still continue to be sustainably produced across Japan to this day.

Though much smaller in size compared to South Sea pearls, Japanese Akoya pearls exhibit exceptional roundness and superior luster, making them some of the most sought after saltwater pearls in the world.

The brisk inland sea coves across Japan are regarded by many to have the ideal marine environment for cultivating Akoya pearls.

Here, Akoya pearls are only able to grow one pearl at a time, with a single pearl taking over a year to grow before a single pearl is harvested by the expertise of skilled pearl farmers who have honed their skills here for generations.
